City Center building owners and commercial tenants are eligible to participate in a matching grant program developed by the City Center Partnership and the City of Joliet.
This new Facade Incentive Grant Program allows the City of Joliet to match up to $5,000 in building owner/tenant funds for exterior improvements on commercial buildings located within the boundaries of the City Center Development Plan, plus Cass St., east to Eastern Ave.; Jefferson St., east to Eastern Ave. and west to Center St.
Detailed architectural design work is an eligible cost under the program. All facades generally visible from a public right-of-way, including front, sides and rear of a building are included in the Facade Incentive Grant Program.
Matching grant improvements may include canopy or awning additions, signage, exterior lighting, installation of new windows or doors, tuckpointing, landscaping, masonry, cleaning and restoration or original architectural features. All drawings and estimates related to grant-funded work are subject to approval by the City Center partnership Architectural Design Committee.
All City Center businesses are encouraged to apply for these available facade improvement grant funds.
