The Life of Lincoln “Down on the Farm” with the Joliet Area Historical Museum
In 2009, America celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. With his hands on an axe and his strength at a plow, Lincoln helped carve a home and farm out of the Midwestern backwoods. The time he spent on the frontier helped shape the man that went on to lead the country. At the Joliet Area Historical Museum’s Kidzfest zone, families can compete in a log cabin relay, clear a homestead to find Lincoln head pennies, star in JAHM’s version of a penny, and answer Lincoln trivia questions to win a prize. Fair Oaks Farm from Indiana is bringing their mobile dairy classroom so you can meet your milk’s maker. Bring your camera!
The Forest Preserve District of Will County GREAT OUTDOORS!
Meet Willy Woodchuck the FPDWC mascot. Rosie that FPDWC’s search and rescue dog will also stop by! Check out the Police ATV and K9 vehicle, as well as an E85 vehicle on display as part of the event “Touch a Truck”. There’ll also be children’s nature crafts and a kids geodes dig. The first 500 to visit the Forest Preserve District’s booth will receive a free water bottle. www.fpdwc.org
